[Axis and Allies revised] Can planes attack enemy navy without own navy?

I've a question for Axis and Allies Revised (2004 Edition, 3rd edition).

I have some planes and I want to attack enemy destroyer or battleship.

Can I use only the planes to attack or must I use also some naval unit?

Yes, air units can attack naval units without you having a naval unit in the same region.
