  1. have a look at http://axolotl.org/housing.htm

do lots of reaserch and have fun

  2. Axolotls can get quite large, so I would recommend at least a 15-20 gallon tank, although the tank doesn't have to be full but that is only for one. So for three you prolly want from 45 to 60 gallons. Axolotls are messy. Their waste has a high ammonia content, and if left unchecked, can produce a rather nasty environment for the little guys- to say nothing of the smell! Replace at least 20% of the water every two weeks or so, making sure that you also balance the pH and rid the water of harmful substances. I recommend siphoning the water out, because you can pull out whatever uneaten food and other junk that the filter doesn't get while you change the water. I use a sort of hand-operated siphon to do this- the thought of using a traditional mouth-primed siphon unnerves me. The gadget I use is a long plastic shaft connected to a few feet of rubber tubing. I drop the tube in a bucket and shake the shaft up and down in water until the siphon action kicks in and starts filling the bucket. You should change your filter media when you change your water. The carbon chunks in most filters help remove ammonia and aid aeration.

    Good Luck!

  3. Axolotls are not demanding in respect to their accommodations. Its important to remember that an adult axolotl can reach any where from 7-14 inches the best would 18 inches long for 1 adult (tank)For several the tank should be at least 48x12x15 or larger, water depths about 6-8 inches as long as the water covers the axolotls. For a display tank a greater depth of water and perhaps a much deeper tank may be desired.

Filtration is not essential for axolotls. But must change water regularly! If choose to use one there are several to choose from, under gravel, internal power, external and external power filters. axolotl's excrete a lot of waste. This is mainly in ammonia's this is very toxic in its unionized form.

You should age your tank before you place any axolotl;s into it. this takes at least 2 weeks or more after filling with water, connecting up the filter and also chlorinated treatments let stand for several days.

If use normal aquarium gravel you risk killing your axolotl's. Use pepples size of a pea or bigger about 2cm or greater.Find a aggregate if can works good.

Light can come from hood of tank these guys are sensitive to light changes so maybe keep low.

tempter should be kept between 57-68 Fahrenheit anything below 57 leads to sluggish activity and a lower metabolism at low tempters they eat less frequently they may also refuse food and stop completely. Above 24c they become stressed warm conditions cause disease if left for several days. Its best to keep tempture stable all year long. If need heater get one for colder months if need to and set on 18 degrees .

Add plastic plants,caves,pipes,etc.etc. this gives axolotl;s added security and some things to climb on to get out of water if want to.

Feed- Brine shrimp, small strips of beef or liver, earth worms, blood worms, tubifex worms, salmon/trout pellets. NO worms from garden or out side these may carry disease.

Make sure you take all un eatting food from tank daily.
