Aya Takano dominates Girls 400m freestyle prelims – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Aya Takano of Itoman dominated the preliminary rounds of Girls 400m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Friday, September 21.
Takano remained inevitably strong over her competitors from the start. With her immaculate efforts in the preliminary round of the race, she asserted dominance over her opponents and tapped the wall for fastest qualification spot.
She faced tough competition from her fellow swimmers from the start and earned her way to the top of medal rostrum for first position with a timing of 4 minutes and 19.63 seconds.
The top qualifying swimmer was trailed by Aine Matsushita of Itoman, who stayed 0.85 seconds away from overpowering her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 20.48 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Megumi Ito of Itoman, who was 0.47 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as third best finisher by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 20.95 seconds.
Fourth finest qualification spot of the event was obtained by Natsuki Maruyama of Itoman, who remained one and a half body length behind and tapped the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 22.56 seconds.
Maruyama was traced by Megan E Byrnes of NCSA, who stayed two body lengths apart and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 24.37 seconds for fifth position.
Byrnes was traced by her teammate, Stephanie C Peters, who remained three body lengths slower and tapped the wall for sixth place with an effort of 4 minutes and 27.21 seconds.
Subsequently, Peters was chased by Abby L Jagdfeld of NCSA, who remained only 0.09 seconds away and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 27.30 seconds for seventh position.
Last qualifying position of the race was secured by Katherine G Drabot of NCSA, who stayed 0.03 seconds apart and posted a time of 4 minutes and 27.33 seconds.
In addition, Takano was overjoyed with her top qualification effort in the race and claimed that she would try harder to sustain her place in the playoff.
