Aya Terakawa occupies Women’s 100m backstroke gold: Day four - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Aya Terakawa occupied gold medal of the Women’s 100m backstroke on fourth day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, April 5.
Terakawa stunned the aquatic crowd with her scintillating efforts in the 100m discipline. With her phenomenal efforts, she remained substantially ahead of her following swimmers and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal.
Her scintillating struggle remained almost two body lengths ahead of her subsequent competitor and she lowered the national record by clocking a time of 59.10 seconds. Her effort remained 0.03 seconds slower from the previous mark of 59.13 seconds.
She was followed by Shiho Sakai, who remained 1.40 seconds slower from her former finisher and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 00.50 seconds for silver medal.
Sakai was trailed by Noriko Inada, who remained only 0.07 seconds behind and followed her on the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 00.57 seconds.
Inada remained 0.99 seconds faster from her following swimmer, Miyuki Takemura, who settled on the victory stand for fourth position by completing her race in a time of 1 minute and 01.56 seconds.
The fifth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Eri Tabei, who remained 0.07 seconds slower and posted an effort of 1 minute and 01.63 seconds for fifth position.
The sixth position holder was followed b Mai Harada, who was 0.19 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 01.82 seconds.
Harada was followed by Maho Tsujimoto, who stayed almost 0.70 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 02.50 seconds for seventh position.
Tsujimoto was chased by Emi Moronuki, who stayed nearly two strokes slower and posted a time of 1 minute and 02.68 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the crowd acknowledged dominating efforts of all finalists in the 100m discipline whereas the session ended after the completion of all planned events.
In addition, the winners were awarded accolades for their praiseworthy efforts in the backstroke discipline at prize ceremony of the championship.
