answering your question yes I am taking care of the animals and the farm but I dont know the first thing about farming and I really would like to keep it. COWS! I dont know the first thing about milking it. Do this cow needs shots? Can anyone drink the milk? How often do you milk it? How often do you have to have it checked? The house is in very good condition, my mom and I are thinking about moving in it, it is in better shape than ours. The garden is huge I don't know how to take care of it. I'm a city girl not a country girl but it is really nice.

If you do not know anything about farming and cows better you ask a farmer who has cows. Might be best to sell the cows to the farmer. As for the farm itself, if it is sizeable and you have neither the time or the knowledge for raising produce, lease the land for a nominal price. You get enough income to pay the taxes and insurance and the tenant gets the benefit of the farm. With this arrangement you get to live in a better house.

If you know nothing about living in a farm, it will be really difficult for you if you have nobody to help you. You could hire an agriculture advisor for some time, ask a vet, but it would be difficult to do everything on your own at first.

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  If the cow hasn't been milked for several days, the milk production probably stopped.  They need to be milked twice a day.  Did your grandpa leave any records if he bred the cow back?  Maybe one of his friends or neighbors knows.  They carry the calf for 9 months, like people do.  She shouldn't need shots.

Glad the house is in good shape.  If you are a city girl and you and your mom move out there, it will be alot different, maybe even kind of boring until you get used to it, then you will love it!  I hope!

What is all in the garden?  Is it still warm where you live?  If the plants are still producing, and if they are wilting, they need to be watered.  Set a rain gauge up and give it about an inch a week, hopefully your grandpa had a sprinkler so it is easier to water.

The chicken eggs need to be picked up once a day, I would wear gloves so some of the old crabby hens don't peck your hands.
