Ayako Uehara and Jiyai Shin in joint lead: Live leaderboard of Evian Masters
Evian Masters, presented by Societe Generale, has kicked off at the Evian Masters Golf Club with a star-stellar field. The Ladies European Tour (LET) event, carrying a purse of US $ 3,250,000, is considered as the fifth flagship event on the tour. Here is
a quick look at the live leaderboard.
Japan’s Ayako Uehara and Korean ace Jiyai Shin are currently in the lead after carding a score of 3-under-par. Shin, who is considered as one of the top guns in the field, has completed her three holes with the help of two birdies. The player seems to be
in great form, and will be hoping to carry on in this fashion throughout the event.
Shin’s most crucial shot by far was when she hit a tee shot into the rough on the par-3 second hole. The player made her way to the rough, took out a wedge, and chipped a beautiful 15-foot long birdie into the cup.
Meanwhile, Uehara has completed her six holes on the front with the help of two birdies and she still has 12 holes to play.
Karrie Webb has also chosen to tee off from the front. After seven holes, she is at 2-under-par. The Australian is looking good with her putting, and could give the leaders a tough time.
Her compatriot, Cristie Kerr is on her way to the last hole. The American carded three birdies and one bogey in her eight holes.
Maria Hjorth is catching pace in her game and she is all set to give the leaders a shock. Hjorth has excelled at her short game as she reeled three birdies without dropping a shot. The Swede took a break of two weeks from competitive golf, but did not stop
practicing.
Ai Miyazato seems to be in trouble at the par-4 fourth, where she drove the tee shot into the fairway bunker and consumed two strokes to retrieve the ball.
Brittany Lincicome is one-under-par after the first nine holes. The player is playing safe, which is why she has seven pars on her scorecard.
