I have Crohns Disease and suffer severe stomach pain.Doctors are increasingly trying to get me to take tramadol. It does not even touch my pain and I find other codeine based drugs work far better. I am starting to feel like an addict because I have to almost plead for meds that work. I have had 7 major surgeries on my bowel and it is really tiring having this hassle

  1. There are a lot of things to consider with Ultram. First Tramadol is a narcotic and opiate. The medical world and doctors have been lying about this for years. It does have a potential for abuse. ANd on this premise. People ate them like candy thinking they were harmless and a lot of them are in rehabs now.

Ultram is two drugs in one. A weak opiate and a mild anti-depressant. SSI )Serotonin)inhibiting properties. I know people that have taken it for years and never had an issue. Than again there are people that took it and had extreme blood shot eyes and bags under their eye's and felt like they were going to have a stroke. And this was after using it once. It is a poor drug and like anything else is good for short term perhaps.

You might take it and it might be the greatest thing in the world for you. But realize this, it can take up to 21 days to get out of you. The withdrawal is far worse than any other opiate can produce and the bone pain it gives in withdrawal is notorious. With the two compounds in it the drug has a 9 hour half life. So being 50mg pills it does build up in you. I hate Ultram. But that is a opinion. My aunt loves it. It is best for use in people that are not physically dependant and are opiate naive. Tramadol is sold OTC in India. I thought I would throw in that fun fact. AND; Do not ever mix this drug with an anti-depressant!

  2. Tramadol is totally worthless, probably wouldn't even help a headache. After what you've been through, your doctor should be banned from the proffession for even mentioning that junk. Have you thought about another,  more sympathetic doc that you do not have to beg to for the right medicine. 10mgs. Oxycodone pills really take the edge off better than hydrocodone or codeine. The only better thing without getting into the really strong stuff you will get addicted to is Oxycontin, which itself is very addictive and most doctors are now loathe to prescribe it. Hope this helped and get better!

  3. i took tramadol for whiplash about a year ago and it did absolutely nothing. i agree that codeine based drugs work better. i guess that doctors are reluctant to prescribe the same drug flor a long time because of the risk of addiction.

when i had my bad back i was prescribed diazepam with the tramadol and that was amazing. felt like i was floating around on a cloud!

  4. I've been using Ultram for over five years and it works fine  for me. If one doesn't work and it usually doesn't if the pain is real bad, then I take two and I also take with the Ultram either aspirin or acetametafin or all three together. It has never become addictive for me ad I might add that not all pain medications work the same for everyone. e.g morphine and percocet never works on me but Demerol works great for me.

  5. You want to get on the heroin.
