Ayr Gordon Reid signs a two-year deal with Warriors – Rugby update
Magners League side, Glasgow Warriors, has extended the former Ayr prop Gordon Reid’s contract by two years.  Reid has been a phenomenal player for the Ayr in the Scottish Premiership Division One so far and another couple of season at the club will help
the player develop into a senior player in the squad.
Glasgow Warriors is one of the two professional senior rugby clubs in the Scottish Rugby Union. Warriors finished at 11th spot in the last season of Magners League 2010/11 and managed to win 6 of the 22 games.
The 24-year-old loose head prop Reid has trained with the team during their last season’s campaign. Reid has made his senior club debut against the Ospreys on March 5, 2011. This is the warriors’ second consecutive signing from Scottish Premiership Division
One side in these many days. On Friday May 20, Warriors had already signed Melrose's talented fly half and Captain Scott Wight.
Reid has expressed his satisfaction over signing the proper contract with the senior side and has ensured that he will give his best to make the most of the opportunity provided. Irvine born Reid said, "I'm delighted to have been given this chance by Glasgow,
and I'd like to thank Sean and the other coaches for the faith that they've shown in me. My task now is to work as hard as I possibly can to prove my worth and make the most of the opportunity."
Reid previously has represented Scotland at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.
Glasgow Warriors Head coach Sean Lineen has welcomed the signing of Reid. Reid impressed Lineen in the training sessions he had with the senior side. He said, “We've had a good chance to get to know Gordon when he's been training with us, and there's no
doubt that the necessary ability and desire are there for him to progress and do well for this club.”
Commenting on the occasion, Lineen further added that Reid is equipped with the necessary skills, techniques, abilities and most importantly, the attitude required to excel at the senior level and has assured the youngster of the coaching staff support to
help him to establish himself at the highest level.
Lineen added, “We'll be giving him all the support he needs to hit the ground running and perform to the level we're confident he can reach.”
Besides Reid, Warriors today also have confirmed the availability of Troy Nathan as centre, Tommy Seymour as winger and Michael Cusack as tight head prop in the upcoming season of the Magners League.
