Azahara Munoz eyes second LPGA victory at Evian Masters 2012
Spanish Azahara Munoz, who racked up her first LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) title at the Sybase Match Play Championship 2012 in May this year, is in the field of the Evian Masters 2012, slated to be held from July 26-29, at Evian-les-Bains, France.
Munoz is a talented golfer as she has proved her mettle by grabbing her first LPGA title. However, it remains to be seen how the Spanish star fares against rivals in France this week.
Munoz turned professional in 2009 and has been trying to make a name for herself on the LPGA Tour. Due to the growing competition on the Tour, the 24-year-old golfer has to make all-out efforts to record good finishes.
So far, things have been good for the young star, as she has managed to improve her game to a great extent. In addition to bringing some much-needed changes to her game, the Spanish prodigy has boosted her morale and confidence — something really crucial for her to keep moving ahead.
However, Munoz said that the only thing that has helped her do her best is the victory at the Sybase Match Play Championship 2012. Speaking to the media at the end of the memorable event, the LPGA titan said that she was pretty thrilled after beating big names on the course.
She said that she did not have any strategy mapped out for the tournament, but she played a natural game and held her nerve till the final moments on the course.
“My routine is always like I always try to read the last six, seven feet to the hole, so I always put the club but I don't ground it. I just look at the hole, I don't even make a swing. But she thought that I grounded it, so that was the discussion. We just ‑‑ she said that I did, I said I didn't, so they went on TV and looked at it,” she had said at the end of the Sybase Match Play Championship 2012.
The Spanish golfer not only proved her mettle at the Match Play, she also grabbed attention after finishing second in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012.
