Azahara Munoz in Jamie Farr Toledo Classic roster
Spanish Azahara Munoz, who kicked off the 2012 season in grand style as she won the Sybase Match Play Championship in May, can prove to be a tough contender at the coming Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012.
The Jamie Farr Toledo Classic is set to start from August 9-12, at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio, and will feature a strong field containing big names.
Munoz is a rising LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star and has been seeking to prove her mettle in bigger events. Her victory at the Sybase Match Play Championship gave her plenty of confidence
and now she has boosted her image as a tough contender.
A couple of months back, Munoz was an unknown player, mostly appearing at the bottom of leaderboard in tournaments. However, the 2012 season has changed everything in her golfing life, putting her in the spotlight
for the first time ever.
Although not as experienced as players like Na Yeon Choi and Yani Tseng, the Spanish star looks determined to add another victory in the current season.
Analysts said that after struggling for over three years, Munoz can now put her complete trust in her game. However, they pointed out that the road to success came through hard work and good work ethic.
They said that success might have come as surprise to her fans, but she has been put under public scrutiny, which means she will now have to play more carefully and making too much mistakes can make a dent
in her hard-earned reputation.
Another worry that Munoz will have to deal with when she comes face-to-face against rivals at Ohio is the possible dominance of Asian Players. Since Asian players are going places on the LPGA Tour these days,
it has become increasingly crucial for European and American stars to come up with a more solid strategy and regain their lost glory.
The general consensus among golf crazy fans is that Asian players are going to maintain their upper hand in the next few months.
Although famous on the LPGA Tour, Munoz has also made a name for herself on the LET (Ladies European Tour) by recording a victory at the Madrid Ladies Masters in 2009.
