Azahara Munoz performs well in season-ending event
Spanish Azahara Munoz was one of the most dangerous LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars at the CME Group Titleholders, possessing a combination of great putting, swing and strength
that made her hard to beat.
Although Munoz was not able to win the CME Group Titleholders 2012, which is the season-ending event of the season, she still fought a tough battle and rattled most of her rivals on the course.
The Spanish star started brightly at The TwinEagles Club, Naples, Florida, and unveiled her superb skills right from the start. She posted a 72 in the opening round to set the ball rolling,
but she knew that it was not enough to remain in contention.
Munoz found it a little hard to adjusting to the course conditions at first, but she quickly managed to gain her composure and starting hitting the ball right where she aimed.
Having carded a 72 in the second round, Munoz was a bit slower in chasing her nearest rivals. However, shooting a 67 in the third round reversed the situation for her and she improved her
position on the leaderboard.
The Spanish prodigy started the third round on Saturday with heaps of confidence as she parred the first two holes. She then launched two straight birdies to ramp up pressure on her nearest
rivals. She shot another birdie on the par-4 6th.
Despite making a good start to her campaign, her game was not without flaws as she carded a bogey on the par-4 7th. She once again amazed spectators after she reeled off her fourth
birdie on the difficult par-3 8th hole.
On the back nine, Munoz remained strong as she avoided bogeys but managed to sink two birdies.
Commentators said that although the LPGA star could not win the event, finishing inside the top 10 was something she was hoping for.
American Brittany Lincicome was one of the stars in the lineup, who grabbed the attention. Lincicome registered an overall 277 to grab the third position.
The American golfer played perfect strokes on most of the holes. “Today was better.  Still the first couple holes, I mean, it was just my lower body wouldn't let me follow through,” Lincicome
said at the end of the third round.
