Azeddine Lagab wins second stage and also takes overall lead in 2011 Tour d’Algerie
Grpment Sportif Petrolier Algerie team’s Azeddine Lagab won the second stage and also took the overall leader’s yellow jersey in 2011 Tour d’Algerie in Chelf on Tuesday, June 28.
Algerian rider, Azeddine, took a total of 2 hours, 30 minutes to cover the distance of 105 kilometres.
Frederic Lubach of the Comite De Provence team was the runner-up with 16 seconds behind Lagab. While Lagab's team-mate, Youcef Reguigui, was in good form, but still unable to maintain his pace and grabbed the third spot with a difference of 19 seconds.
The first stage winner, Natnael Berhane of Equipe Nationale D'erythre, was unable to hold his jersey and took the sixth place ahead of Nabil Baz and Leo Jendillard.
A group of three cyclists made their first breakaway including, Frekalsi Debesay (Equipe Nationale D'erythre), Abdelaziz Yahmi (Ville D’Alger Ain Benian), Riadh Ghedamsi (Equipe Nationale De La Tunise) and Khalil Tamarent (Grpment Sportif Petrolier Algerie).
All of them working together and managed to gain a lead of few seconds over the peloton. Frekalsi increased his pace and took the first sprint of the stage.
After a few kilometres, Mouhssine Lahsaini of Equipe Nationale Du Maroc attacked and gained a lead with 5 points ahead of Abdellah Ben Youcef. 
In the last sprint of the stage, Azeddine maintained his pace and managed to gain a few seconds and with the help of his team he crossed the finish-line without any difficulty.
Mouhssine Lahsaini took the lead in the first mountain of the stage, ahead of Frederic Lubach and Abderahmane Bouraza. After a few kilometres, Riadh Ghedamsi attacked and won the second mountain in the stage.
Azeddine also took the overall lead with the timing of 6 hours and 1 second, while Adil Jelloul was in the second spot with a difference of 19 seconds.
Natnael Berhane grabbed the third place and Frederic finished fourth with a difference of 21 seconds.
Lagab took the overall best sprinter green jersey, while Tarik Chaoufi grabbed the overall King of Mountain (KOM), ahead of Nabil Baz.
The next stage will start in Chlef and end in Tiaret. All the riders will cover a distance of 167 kilometres.
