http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890 makes his ODI debut against Ireland
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in the second ODI of the two match series at Belfast.
Irish captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208 were replaced by
Hammad Azam and Azhar Ali.
Prior to that, Azhar was restricted to the longer version of the game because of his solid technique and brilliant temperament to stay at the crease for long periods of time.
However, his run of outstanding performances in Test cricket has forced Pakistan’s team management to give him a chance to remove the tag of a ‘Test specialist’.
The top order batsman made his Test debut last year in the Lords Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 because of security threats back home.
Since then the Lahore born batsman has been a permanent member of Pakistan’s Test team and impressed cricket analysts with his ability to score runs even in the most difficult circumstances.
26-years old, Azhar started his career as a right arm leg spinner, and, came through the ranks of junior cricket in Pakistan. He represented his country in Under-15s, Under-17s and Under-19s in different global events of the International Cricket Council.
However, a decline of form as a leg spinner spurred Azhar to take his batting more seriously and eventually he became a solid top order batsman.
Azhar plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-Research-Laboratories-c804 and Lahore in the domestic cricket of Pakistan and has done really well in first-class cricket since the last five years.
This is a good step by Pakistan’s cricket team’s management to give him an opportunity in limited overs cricket, as the top order of the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 has generally struggled, in the last decade.
A batsman with a good technique and mental capacity to do well at the highest stage of the game is useful for Pakistan because he can lay a strong base for the middle order to explode at the later stages of a limited overs innings.
