Azhar Mahmood excited to see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions in CLT20 – Cricket News Update
Discarded Pakistani all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Mahmood-c1116, has praised the decision of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to invite a Pakistani team for the upcoming Champions League T20 tournament and believes that this move will help revive cricketing ties
between the neighbouring countries.
Since the birth of the tournament in 2009, no Pakistani team has ever taken part in the event because of the strained political relations between the two countries after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks.
BCCI’s decision to show no objection about a Pakistani team’s participation in the tournament has been warmly welcomed in Pakistan and it is surely going to break the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gareth-Berg-c1457 in the Indo-Pak bilateral cricketing relations.
Sialkot Stallions, which is the T20 champion of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s domestic cricket, is most likely to take part in this year’s tournament.
Azhar, who is playing the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833, is also excited about the decision and hopes that BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will come closer, as this is in the benefit of both the boards.
“Sialkot will play here in CLT20 in October. It is a very good step from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. Now Pakistan too need to take a step forward and join hands with India. Both the countries should join hands and put in a combined effort to revive bilateral series,” Mahmood
said.
The all-rounder is the only Pakistani player to be playing in the IPL and that too because of his British nationality. However, Mahmood has performed brilliantly in the tournament and has proved that it is not possible for the cricket fraternity to ignore
Pakistani cricket, because of its sheer talent.
On the other hand, PCB has also welcomed the step taken by its Indian counterparts. Board’s Chief Operating Officer, Subhan Ahmed feels that this decision will go a long way in normalizing relations with BCCI.
Subhan said, "It is indeed good news for Pakistan, and we welcome India's positive move. We have been discussing the matter, how to revive our cricketing ties with each other, for many months. This is the significant move in that direction.”
