Azhar Mahmood hopeful of new contract with Kent – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802, an English County Club, after his fabulous successes and achievements in this season. He thinks that his outstanding performances with the bat have put him in better
position to bargain for a fresh deal.
Mahmood has been resplendent with the bat throughout the running season. The club selectors have played him at No 3 position in the batting line-up of the limited-over format of the game. This strategy has worked and the batsman has displayed many stunning
and match-winning innings, steering his side to claim some convincing victories and registering himself in the list of the nominees for ‘Kent Player of the Year’ title.
The former international player is quite satisfied with this fruitful stint and hopes that this will help him get another two-year contract from the club as he is ambitious to utilise his new form and play county cricket for some more years.
Talking to the media today, Mahmood said, “Yes, fingers crossed. I have not signed it yet but there is a mutual understanding between me, Jamie [Clifford, chief executive] and Farby [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Farbrace-c81060, director of cricket]. Hopefully it’s two years, but let’s
see.”
He further told, “Last year I was in good form but going in at six or seven when it’s just the bowlers left to bat with makes it a bit of a tough one. When I played championship cricket last year I batted with the tail and I’ve done it this year as well.”
The right-handed batsman claims that batting at one-down position has perked his skills and momentum, infusing immense confidence in him.
Apart from amassing lavish runs, Mahmood has performed well with the ball as well and grabbed some important wickets during this season.
The all-rounder has also expressed many best wishes for Kent as he argues that the team contains diligent and talented guys and if it gets some more, it will be able to do well in the next season.
The 36-year-old made his International debut in 1996 and played 21 Tests and 143 ODIs for Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 before turning to the county cricket.
