http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Mahmood-c1116 questions PCB’s selection policy – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistan all-rounder, Azhar Mahmood, on Tuesday came hard on PCB selectors saying there is no proper selection policy and the selectors keep “chopping and changing” at their own will, without mentioning a solid reason.
Mahmood, who is in Sri Lanka these days, playing for Wayamba United in the ongoing inaugural edition of Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL), said that Pakistan cricket is more about politics than the game, claiming that poor administration is one realistic
reason behind Pakistan cricket team’s inconsistent performance at the international arena.
“There is no consistent selection policy and there will be chopping and changing of players now and then. Obviously, this has been the reason for the inconsistent performance of Pakistan in international cricket," a candid Mahmood said during a media interaction
in Colombo, on Tuesday.
Mahmood, 37, started his International career with Pakistan back in 1996 with a One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, at Toronto, and went on to play 143 ODIs for the Men in Green, compiling 1521 runs, including three half centuries, and picked up 123 wickets
as well.
He made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in October 1997 in an emphatic style, scoring a century and a half century against the Proteas, in his maiden Test series. He remained a permanent member of the national team till the 2003 World Cup, and lost his
place afterwards, though he made a comeback for the 2007 World Cup.
The former Pakistan cricketer, who is now a British citizen, was particularly critical of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
“There is no clear selection policy. In the World T20, there is only one genuine all-rounder which is inexplicable,” said the right-hander, who plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 in the English county.
"There is no http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839 in the World T20 squad. You cannot explain all these," Mahmood added further in an irked tone.
