Azhar Mahmood stars in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 victory over Surrey: Friends Life Twenty20 - Second Innings Recap
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Thursday, July 14, 2011.
The star all-rounder from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 is eligible to play for England now and has been performing with consistency in the County season, especially in the shortest version of the game.
Surrey had a solid batting line-up and were fully capable of troubling the opposition. However, they could only manage 166 in 19.2 overs, as all the batsmen were sent back to the hut.
The pitch remained good for batting, as there was no moisture in it. It also stayed firm and the ball was coming onto the bat nicely. The fans were given some good entertainment in the game, but the hosts failed to keep wickets in tact, which cost them the
match in the end.
Jason http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SM-Davies-c2542 opened the innings for Surrey. They tried to play aggressively from the start and collected 21 runs in quick time. However, the latter was unable to make most of the good conditions, getting out for four runs
off three balls.
Surrey’s captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rory-Hamilton-Brown-c2366 and Roy batted well, guiding their team in a very strong position. They put together 66 runs for the second wicket partnership, but got out in a span of four runs, leaving their side under pressure.
Roy was in excellent form, scoring 53 runs off 34 balls with the help of eight fours and one six. He laid a solid platform for the lower-order batsmen, but the team lost their way after the openers’ downfall.
Hamilton-Brown looked in good touch, as he collected 29 runs off just 18 deliveries, clobbering four fours and one massive six. He failed to make most of the conditions though and was sent back to the pavilion in the 10th over of the innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Arafat-c98241 failed to get going and were dismissed cheaply for seven and two in their respective outings. They were followed by Tom Maynard, who was batting aggressively.
The middle-order player collected 36 runs from 27 balls with the help of three fours and one six. He would have liked to bat until the end, but was unable to stay fully focussed.
Zafar Ansari and Stuart Meaker tried to fight back towards the end with cameos of 11 and 17 respectively, but failed to make a significant impression.
Ansari was the last man to be dismissed in the innings, as he was run-out by Mahmood on the second ball of the final over of the innings.
Pakistan’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839 got spanked for quite a few runs, but bounced back towards the end of the innings, taking three wickets for his side.
