The promising Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 all-rounder, Azhar Mahmood is pleased with his side’s performance so far in the tournament and is hopeful of making it to the tournament playoffs, if they keep performing consistently.
With five wins in ten outings so far, Mahmood’s IPL franchise, Kings XI Punjab finds itself 4th on the standings, just above the lacklustre Deccan Chargers. But the 37-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 all-rounder said that if they continued performing
consistently in the ensuing league games, they can easily make the top fours.
“The guys are working really hard. The boys believe in their abilities and it is paying off,” said Azhar Mahmood while speaking to the media reporters after his side’s four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their return leg
Indian Premier League match, at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Wednesday, May 2,  2012.
“We have lifted our game after making a slow start to the tournament. We are playing good cricket… Hopefully, if the guys can keep on performing consistently, we can easily make the knockout stages,” he added further.
Mahmood’s clinical bowling, 3 for 20 in four overs, restricted the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore line-up to a modest total of 158 for 5, before a united performance from Kings XI Punjab took the tourists home on the penultimate
ball of their run chase, with four wickets intact.
Not even explosive http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221’s blitz, 71 off 42 balls including six fours and four sixes, could save the game for the hosts. Gayle was one of Mahmood’s three RCB scalps. The 37-year-old right-arm medium pacer was later adjudged as the
Man of the Match.
Admitting that bowling to Gayle is not an easy task, Mahmood said that he used all kinds of variations to dismantle the RCB line-up.
“When you are bowling to Chris Gayle here, you have to do something different to make things difficult for him,” said Mahmood at the post-match press conference. “I was mixing my pace and was using all kinds of variations that I practised
at the nets. It worked to good effect today,” he added further.
