Azharuddin demands three separate captains – Cricket News Update
Former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, is not the ideal man to lead the national team in the longer version and has urged BCCI to have separate captains for different formats of the game
The 49-year-old believes that Dhoni falls short to match the intensity he shows in the shorter versions, while has also been lacking a “bit of intelligence’ to lead the Test side recently. Despite acknowledging the feats achieved by the current Men In Blue
skipper, which includes winning the inaugural World T20 Cup, 2011 World Cup and guiding his team to the summit of Test cricket, Azharuddin still feels that having separate captains will do the national team a world of good.
"He (Dhoni) has always been a very good captain in ODIs and Twenty20s but in Test cricket, he lacks a bit of intelligence. May be when it comes to taking instant on-field decisions," said Azharuddin.
"So, I feel that he (Dhoni) is very much suited for ODIs and T20s but for Test matches. I honestly believe that there should be three different captains for three formats," he added.
Dhoni, under his on-going regime, has led the team in 37 Test matches where he has faced only ten defeats. However, his recent record is appalling to say the least, which includes back to back away white-washes against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 - raising doubts
over his capabilities.
To add insult to injury, Dhoni’s own batting form has also been poor.  In his last 22 Test-match innings, the player has managed to score just four fifties, along with a solitary century. Azharuddin also reckons that the added responsibility has certainly
affected his batting, and relinquishing the captaincy will not be a bad idea.
"He is a very good player. Maybe, when he doesn't have captaincy pressure on him, he might play differently. I think, it's very hard for anyone to say whether he (Dhoni) is able to justify his place in the Test team or not, but since he is a captain, you
have to respect that," said Ajju.
Azharuddin himself has captained the national team in 47 Test matches and 174 One Day Internationals before match-fixing controversies put an end to his career.
