Azzurri Miley edges Sarahs Gold, Head Iton Bolt in third

If there’s one thing Azzurri Miley is good at, it’s holding on to a good pace. She held on for dear life today at Hall Green Greyhound Stadium in Birmingham during an A7 race. After crossing the finish line in 29.62, the 8-1 long shot was able to breathe a sigh of relief, as she had finished only a shoulder’s length ahead of the second-place finisher.
Despite bumping first, Sarahs Gold (5-1) rebounded to take second place in 29.63. Badly crowding on second resulted in a third-place finish in 29.63 for the even-odds favourite, Head Iton Bolt. He ran on, and finished only a shoulder behind Sarahs Gold.
Head Iton Bolt is a relative newcomer to the world of greyhound racing, having entered the sport on 29 May 2010. He only had three wins to his name right now, but as he continues his career at Hall Green, that number will surely increase. Back-to-back wins on 6 and 11 August have proven that Head Iton Bolt is very capable of bolting to some big wins. He has a very promising future, and that bodes well for racing fans.
Finishing in the number four spot was Ballymac Tina (6-1). She experienced a great deal of difficulty in this race, as she bumped in the first bend, and crowded second. As a result, she finished the race 9¼ lengths behind third place. Cross Bar (6-1) placed fifth in 30.55, which was 2¼ lengths behind Ballymac Tina. No one suffered as much as Glory Ned (7-2), though. He crowded and fell at second to finish in 32.95.
The long shots continued their dominance in the next race. Westmead Marlin, ranked as an 11-4 long shot before the A5 race, beat the odds to win the race with a great time of 29.16. Crokers Beer, the pre-race favourite at 7-4 odds, drank in a second-place finish in 29.36, which was 2½ lengths behind the winner.
Rounding out the top three was Trendy Cailin (5-1), who ran to a 29.42 third-position finish. She was only ¾ lengths behind the second spot. Well Lilly (4-1) was forced to check third, and finished a shoulder behind third place, matching Trendy Cailin’s time of 29.42.
The fifth-place dog was Clonlusk Oscar (8-1), who finished only a half length behind fourth place with a time of 29.46. Sixth place went to Icknieldprincess (9-2), whose finish of 29.54 was 1 length behind Clonlusk Oscar.
Head Iton Bolt’s odds of winning are improving every day, and if he keeps his good pace going in his next race, he may emerge victorious. He and his competitors await their next race at Hall Green Greyhound Stadium, but they won’t have to wait long for it. Racing action resumes at Hall Green tomorrow night at 19:35 with an A8 race.
