B A Clemenson’s hound Greenacre Josh proved that victory in the Pendry’s Pub Trophy was a cinch for him
No one was expecting such an amazing performance from the young hound, who won the purse of £150 for trainer B A Clemenson.
The 515 meter open race Pendry’s Pub trophy was held on the 1st of September, at Hove racing track, the total purse was of £275.
Expectations were with the 2009 Derby finalist Glenard Sunrise, who unfortunately managed to finish third in the race.
Hondo Black’s son Greenacre Josh out of Greenacre Lin started his chase from trap 6. The four-year-old champ with his hasty race placed himself at the primary position, by running tremendously in the race.
With his speedy chase the prizewinner finished first in the race, he reached the wire in 30 minutes and 41 seconds.
Although his brother, Greenacre Babs trained by the same trainer B A Clemenson, tragically finished fifth in the race, but Greenacre Josh with his swiftness got up and went for the purse.
Fatboyz Zorro who was 2 ¾ lengths behind, when Greenacre Josh reached the wire, as the black dog raced from trap 3 he got crowded at ¼ length, even though he continuously ran as fast as could, but he was declared second in the race.
The four-year-old covered his distance in 30 minutes and 63 seconds for trainer D D Knight.
M J Dartnall’s champ Glenard Sunrise, who was expected to be the show stealer was crowded at ¼ and 3, son of Hades Rocket out of Mossley Jo, had a good start from trap 1 but eventually the race became a hassle for the famous hound and he finished third,
by covering the distance in 30 minutes and 72 seconds.
Black Machine who was 1 ½ length far from the wire when Glenard Sunrise reached the finish line, started his chase from trap 5. Trained by the same trainer as Fatboyz Zorro’s, the black dog managed to finish fourth in the race.
Black Machine was slow from the beginning of the race, the steady performance made him loose the chance to win the purse. Trainer D D Knight’s Black Machine covered his whole distance in 30 minutes and 84 seconds.
Among the pack of hounds running for the prize money was Greenacre Josh’s brother Greenacre Babs. The black dog got crowded as he got out of trap 3, he tried every possibility to run as fast as he could, but unfortunately he managed to finish fifth in the
race.
For trainer B A Clemenson, who was prizewinner that evening, Greenacre Babs covered the distance in 30 minutes and 90 seconds.
Trainer M C B Collin’s Press Man tragically was the last one to reach the wire, the poor dog took the most time in reaching the wire, because he got baulked and crowded when he started his run from trap 2.
Black dog’s total recorded time was 31 minutes and 38 seconds.
Out of the total purse the winner was rewarded with £150, where as the rest of the five contenders were given £25 in the Pendry’s Pub Trophy.
