After BJ Penn won, in his interview he said would you like to see me fight GSP? BJ might be asking for more than he can handle there. What do you think?

  1. very evenly matched.

I do believe BJ's cardio has gotten much better.

GSP's has improved everything about his game.

Whoever gets on top will win the match. St. Pierre has become one of the UFC's best wrestlers. Although BJ can work very well from his back, GSP will wear him out because he has such excellent ground and pound.

The only way BJ can win is by submission even though he has such good striking GSP's striking is head and shoulders above BJ's.

The only way GSP can win is if he takes BJ down, and stays on top of him, wearing BJ out with elbows. If GSP fights the same way he fought with Matt Serra, then he might just beat BJ.

  2. gsp won the first fight....but they both got better since then so who knows....but i think gsp will win agian if they do fight

  3. I wouldn't care who won because it would be an awesome fight.  They're both excellent fighters, its a hard call for me to say but I would certainly buy the card.

  4. i think gsp would win, he has improved so much

  5. Dont forget that they fought before and it was real close. Thats when BJ was doing more drinking then training. Also GSP has gotten a lot better as well.

This would be a close fight but I give the edge to Penn for his strikes.

  6. No, no, no... I think this will be a very even fight.

Let's break it down shall we?

BJ Penn lost to GSP not because he was less skilled but because of his cardio, he was actually winning that fight after his gas tank left him. Same with what happened with Matt Hughes.

GSP however has gotten better since their last fight.

Striking: Both guys are killer strikers. Sherk folded under BJ Penn's striking, good utilization of knees, jabs and elbows (during the stevenson fight). GSP is one of the best strikers in MMA, very technical and fast. The difference? Penn never succumb to a knock down, but GSP did, in Matt Serra's fist.

Submissions: both guys are accomplished submission specialist, Penn defeated Hughes, Pulver and Stevenson via rear naked choke, which goes to show he's not the prodigy for nothing. But GSP has also his own submission style. defeating Matt Hughes with a sick triangle and changed it to an armbar which Hughes eventually tapped (verbal).

This fight is up-for-grabs, the better fighter with the better gameplan will win this fight.

GSP keys to victory: GSP should, as always, keep the pace rushing (no pun intended) to weaken Penn's cardio, although i don't question Penn's gas tank anymore but i think GSP's cardio is slightly better than Penn's. Rush should do the similar gameplan during his fight with Matt Serra which is mixing takedowns and striking, this technique will keep Penn guessing, although it may take a long time to take Penn down. Also he should utilize his size advantage against Penn.

Penn's Keys to victory: Penn should be able to last 5 rounds.

GSP is a fast paced fighter and very technical, i think he should play mind games with GSP, his good at it and as we've known that GSP has a little bit of weakness in his mental game. Penn should also concentrate on his submissions because rush was submitted before. He may use his striking, which is exceptional, to soften up GSP and take him to the ground, again, i also think that GSP has excellent takedown defense. If GSP has the size advantage, Penn has his flexibility, he can run circles over GSP in the ground without even using his hands.

As a fan, i want GSP to win. I want him to dominate the division. But logic tells me BJ Penn is one of the most talented fighters in the world, and he's better now because of his dedication to train even harder. both fighters evolved since their last bout. Penn won the lightweight title being 1 of only 2 fighters to have 2 titles in different division the other being Randy Couture. GSP on the other hand became the 2 time undisputed welterweight champ, this will be a heck of a bout.

both fighters have 50/50 chance, i'm not gonna count BJ out nor am i gonna count GSP out, as i've said before their evenly matched.

  7. Take the first fight, GSP got the decision but it could of went either way. Penn gassed but was dominate before he did. Did GSP really get better? He lost to Serra who isn't even a top 10 fighter in my book. I think a focused and in shape Penn wins a pretty one sided UD. I think Penn has more ways to win then GSP.

  8. Please watch the 1st one before saying that GSP will outstrike BJ. BJ lost by a takedown in the third round which I thought could be negated by the gogoplata attempt. Its a very even match.

p.s. GSP was a bloody mess while BJ was without a scratch on him.

  9. GSP all the way

  10. BJ is gonna lose.  enough said.  St. Pierre has improved SOoooooo much ...like.  he f***ing submitted Matt hughes!

  11. GSP is the best I personally think he is a much better fighter than BJ Penn.

  12. "dripmail" had a lot of good points.

it boils down to a coin flip,..... who comes in more ready to do damage.

my pick = the prodigy by submission late in the fight.
