B.J Raji believes Coach Mike McCarthy will go for 16-0 – NFL News
Defensive tackle B.J Raji believes completely that Coach Mike McCarthy will now try to secure an astonishing 16-0 finish to the regular season
"I think I can speak for coach in that he's going to try to go for this thing," Raji said, talking with ESPN.com.
The National Football Conference North Champions Green Bay Packers, unbeaten in the league, have secured their first week playoff bye, and with a victory this Sunday against Kansas City Chiefs, the Packers can take home-field advantage
throughout the playoff rounds. They can also become “legendary” clinching the entire regular season unbeaten.
With nothing left to gain in the rest of the regular season, most coaches would look to play it safe and rest their star players. Raji however, disagrees with that approach and wants his team to go for the unbeaten season saying
"You have to respect the game of football," he said. "Obviously we're in a great position. We're 13-0. We have a lot of things wrapped up. But ultimately, you never accomplish anything great by being scared. We have an option to
go either way, but if you want to make history and do some things that haven't been done in a while, you have to take a chance."
The Packers at 13-0 are just three games away from securing immortality. They will face the Chiefs who are in turmoil having fired their Coach Todd Haley after a poor 2011 season. Victory over the Chiefs will secure the Packers
home-field advantage.
With Aaron Rodgers in great form and the Packers swatting aside every challenger, it is highly likely that they will go unbeaten, but for a miracle.
The Packers destroyed playoff contenders Oakland Raiders in week 14, running out 46-16 winners in a complete performance. Rodgers was devastating with two touchdown passes, covering 281 yards as his side turned on the style.
Defeating a Raiders’ side that lost top spot in American Football Conference West after the defeat in such a manner shows how much the Packers are ahead in comparison to the rest of the NFL teams, and it will be no surprise if
the Packers complete the season with a Super bowl victory.
The Packers will face off against division rivals Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions in their final two games of the regular season.
