Hello,

I am Canadian Permanent Residents and I have a B1/B2 visa.

I got a job offer from a Canadian company to work as an IT Consultant in Canada and in the US. This job requires traveling 60% of the time to the US.

What should I do? Do I need another visa?

Regards,

My questions are:

  1. Yes, you need a different visa.  The type of work you are referring to would fall under gainful employment and cannot be done legally in the US on a B1/B2 visa.

While in the US as a business visitor, an individual may:

Conduct Negotiations; solicit sales or investment; discuss planned investment or purchases; make investments or purchases; attend Meetings, and participate in them fully; interview and hire staff; and conduct research.

  2. Your empoyer has to arrange for your H1B or L1 visa.
