I had a vit. b12/folic acid shot today(3cc's) for anemia and it made my urine rose colored and I got a little rash on my arm. My question is, are these side effects common? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

  1. you didnt say what type of rashes. whether they are itchy or not, whether they are elevated or if they are raised or look like little red dots. but most likely they have nothing to do with the folic acid. the rashes is more or less a symptom of your anemia. have your bloods checked and specifically ask for the platelet count.

  2. Here's an article called Side Effects Of Folic Acid

  3. Well... Vitamin B12 is intensely red, and it is quite possible that your body couldn't deal with the amount you were given, all in one dose, and the excess came out in your urine making it pink.

As for the rash - most injections have some sort of carrier or preservative to stop the contents from degrading. The reaction is most likely to that.

The best advice, really, is to go back to whoever gave you the shot and ask him about it.
