  1. Same aircraft

People just call it different names

  2. "Spirit" is the B2's nickname, in the same way a B-17 is a :Flying Fortress" or a B-36 is a "Peacemaker."

  3. "Spirit' is the name of the B2. Like "Mustang" is the name of the P/F51.

I can say with certainty that no one outside of Public Affairs in the AF uses that name.  It's "B2".

  4. Same aircraft.  My first cousin is a retired B2 instructor pilot.  He works for Northrup Grumman now as an instructor.

  5. Same Aircraft

    It is like saying

    F-15 Fighter or F-15 Eagle

    F-18 Fighter or F-18 Hornet

  6. no, they're the same, coolest plane ever!!!

  7. B-2 Bomber is not the name. The B in B-2 means bomber. The official name is the B-2 Spirit. However, the bomber added after it would be used to clarify which category it falls under. Basically, they are the same plane. The B-2 is an amazing plane. Costing 2 billion dollars, I guess it better be! :P Hope this helps!

  8. they are the same thing

  9. I thought it was called the Black Boomerang

  10. Same plane (Just a Name Difference)

  11. NO difference its just called two different names that's all. Its as good as the NIGHT HAWK and SR-71 BLACK BIRD, not better.

  12. For some reason the name Spirit for this aircraft was either not chosen, or not released until fairly late. So the aircraft was simply known as the B2 Bomber, B2 is its designation, and bomber is its role. Later the name was publicly announced as Spirit, so now it's known as the B2 Spirit.
