  1. take it to the nearest animal shelter, now that youve touched it, the mother will smell human, and will not accept it back, please, take it to the shelter, and NOW

  2. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

  3. if there is a nest around there then put it back were you found it and wait for the momma to come get it. if she is looking for her baby she might see you and freek out and not come back for a few hours, make sure that there is no cat or other animal that might try to eat it around and make yourself scarce. dont keep coming back the mom might be waching somewere and not come back till she thinks you are gone.

  4. Since you can't reach the nest, I'd suggest either taking it to a local wildlife shelter.......

Or if you're capable you can get food from the local pet store to handfeed it....it's dangerous if you don't know what you're doing because the bird can aspirate the food and get pneumonia...

Make sure you keep it warm too.

Also, be very careful if you sense that its sick at all. Remember birds can carry west nile virus...............

    AND BY THE WAY........

It is NOT TRUE that a mother bird will not take care of a baby that has been touched by humans. They do not discriminate like people think.

  5. The best thing you can do is try to find the nest and put the baby back in the same area.

Do not give it water as it will get pnuemonia.  The parents will find it and feed it.  More than likely they are trying to teach it to fledge.
