Actually its apure blind decision from the empire. For LBW's empires should have a close look. So, wrong decisions can happen in the case of LBW'. But for catches like these umpires can call back the players if the decision is wrong. So, sachin made the correct thing by coming back to the crease.

I think all batsmen walk back to the dressing room.  Haven't seen one that runs back yet.....

This is not the first time it happen and the bizarre is it's always with Sachin for some reason.  I remember this game, it hit the edge of the bat (the video didn't show much of it but the replay of that game on tv back then was crystal clear).  What Ponting upset about is if it's out then it's out and not changing umpire's decision by calling him back, oh well...  but it's true anyway justice has been serve... good on ya Brett lee.
