I just downloaded a Windows Update, from someone claiming to be microsoft, and it just started killing my computer. I managed to terminate all of the bad processes, but now I think some of the essential system files are corrupted. When the windows update finished, it apparently disabled my system restore so I can't even use that. My virus scanner (McAfee) is running a virus scan but now there are a lot of settings (such as add or remove programs and my visual settings) that are missing. I am now stuck with an ugly wallpaper that is telling me I have viruses. What can I do that won't wipe my hard drive completely? Also, some program called Antivirus XP 2008 recently showed up and won't go away. examples of corrupted system files are:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphctljj0ep7t.exe
C:\Program Files\rhcpljj0ep7t\rhcpljj0ep7t.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\svchost.ex...
