  1. HI, I KNOW DOIN HW IS HARD WEN U HAVE AN XBOX LOL CUZ I HAVE ONE TOO. YOU SHOULD JUS THINK ABOUT YOUR FUTURE AND THE GRADE YOU WILL GET IF U DNT DO UR HOMEWORK BUT YOU SHOULD MAKE A REMINDER ON A BULLENTIN BOARD TO DO UR HW. ARE SHOULD DO UR HW ALWAYS B4 U PLAY XBOX N U CAN GET INTO THE HABIT OF IT.

    hope it helps  :-)

  3. I'm 14 and in 8th grade and i have the same problem. except i don't have an xbox. i think that you should have a parent or someone take the xbox away until you do finish your homework. that way you will get your homework done. or take a break for like 15- 20 mins and play. i often get side tracked and find myself on the computer. i have learned to get on (like now for instance) only when i am done with my homework. but lucky for me, i had a light homework night.

  4. Here are some suggestions:

    1) Unplug your xbox and put it in a closet or somewhere other than the easily accessible place it is now.

    2) Make a schedule to manage your afterschool time. You may need a little downtime--perhaps going for a walk outside or shooting some hoops for 15-30 min.

    3) Do homework! There is a very helpful study system for textbook study--if you are interested, it is OK to email me and I will describe it. But mainly, get the work done. If you can, time yourself so you know how long homework is taking you. In 7th grade, you should be doing about 70 min. (1 hr. 10 min.) of homework each day.

    4) If you don't have a lot of assignments from classes on a particular day, still take time to review your notes, re-copy them if needed, go over the review questions in your textbooks, etc.

    5) Use your xbox and anything else that you like to do that takes away from homework as a reward. Since you are trying to break a habit, xbox should only come out at the end of the week--not every day!! Perhaps a daily reward could be phone time with friends, a family game, tokens for how many xbox minutes you can earn at the end of the week, etc.

    6) Have an accountability person--Mom, Dad, friend, teacher, aunt, uncle, etc.--someone you need to have check on you that you are doing your homework and that you are not playing xbox when you still have work to do.

    7) Ask your teachers to help you with school work you don't understand. Work on that D class the most.

You definitely are not alone--you are at one of most critical ages and grades in learning how to organize your time and materials for yourself. Great question!! Good luck!! I know you can do it if you put your mind to it.

  5. You could have a set time each night for doing homework and go to a different room so you're not distracted. Play the xbox afterwards as a reward. If that doesn't work, you could always ask your parents to hide it until you've finished studying!!

  6. Use your xbox time as a reward to yourself when you finish your school work.  For example, promise yourself 1 hour of play time for every assignment finished.  Have your parents back you up and support you in your goal.

  7. if you have a spare notebook bring it in school everytime your teacher say there's a homework or other activities write them down so you wont miss any of you're homeworks. if xbox is the problem limit it for example no playing during Mondays and Thursdays or you can only play xbox for 30 min during weekdays. it helps

  8. It sounds like you go to school and this question should have been put elsewhere.

Think of a way for you to remember to do your homework--maybe you'll put a big sign on your XBox with "HOMEWORK" written on it. Or come up with something else that will work for you. You could also write up a rules sheet for when you are allowed to play XBox, then use a timer to make sure you limit yourself to that time.

In the end, once you've got your reminders in place, it's a matter of just making yourself do it. You don't focus on what you'd like to be doing instead, what you find fun, you focus on getting done what you know needs to be done.

  9. Cut it out completely for about a week or two so that you will find better things to do (yes there are other things to do, you just need a break from the game to see them) After that you will find it easy to only play xbox for a little while then do other things.

  10. only you can do it but try by saying if i get this done ill' get to play the xbox for fifteen minutes for each subject or assingmint you have!!!!!!

  11. You are gonna have to remember that those grades affect your life (the job or career that you choose). That xbox is not gonna be around forever to help in that aspect. So program yourself to play after all work is done. I tell my kids that you have to do a little work to have a little fun!

  12. My son is 11.... there are NO video games allowed in this house until homework is done.  In our home, school is their job.  I expect them to place their grades above all else.  If there is a low grade extra work will be done... My son received a C in one of his classes... he had to stay after twice a week until that grade was up.  However, as to your addiction to xbox, you need to create self discipline within yourself.  Don't ALLOW yourself to touch it until your homework is done.

  13. this section is home schooling????????????? no wonder you got a D
