BAM fails to get competent Women’s Singles shuttlers under the charge of Chi Zhanrong
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) remains unsuccessful to bring forward competent female shuttler as there is no player in the Women’s Singles category under the charge of coach Chi Zhanrong, who has the skill to make her mark at international level.
Despite working for one year, Zhanrong failed to produce even a single competent female shuttler who possesses the ability to prove her worth against the top shuttlers in the arena of badminton.
Since the retirement of Wong Mew Choo, who got retirement from competitive badminton last year, there is no worthy successor to her as all female shuttlers in Women’s Singles category are far behind in skill level as compared to the players from China, Korea, Denmark and Indonesia.
There is just one female shuttler, Tee Jing Yi, who luckily made it to the main round of two Super Series tournament including China Masters and Malaysia Open.
All other shuttlers including Lydia Cheah, Sonia Cheah, Yang Li Lian and Sannatasah Saniru have a low world ranking and cannot be even considered to play the qualifying round of a Super Series event.
Only Jing Yi has shown improvement but she is still lacking the impressive touch which is required to challenge the top shuttlers in the world of badminton.

Zhanrong has not shown any considerable progress so far as all female shuttlers under his charge are far below the level of elite players. However, Ng Chin Chai, the secretary of BAM, supported the coach by saying that Zhanrong is doing well.
According to Chin Chai, Jing Yi has made improvement under the supervision of Zhanrong and the shuttler has the ability and chance to qualify for 2012 Olympic Games.
Chin Chai said, "Zhanrong has done a decent job and has been working hard to see the women's singles players make a strong impact on the international scene. Jing Yi has progressed and  has the chance to qualify for the London Olympics."
He further made it clear that no changes will be made in the Women’s Singles coaching squad until Olympics. Changes will be considered in the coaching squad if the female shuttlers fail to perform well at international stage until Olympic Games.
