  1. wonderful let the b-stards struggle they've made enough of us struggle, your over drawn so they send you a letter to tell you and then your even more overdrawn because they charge you for the bloody letter let the toss pots rot in h**l

  2. those losses did not come from overcharging us, rather from poor managment decicions involving their mortgage practices.

  3. Banks employ millions of people in this country.  Will you think it serves them right when they start losing their jobs because idiots that can't be bothered to run their accounts properly want their (completely avoidable) charges back?  If you don't want to get charged don't go overdrawn without an agreed overdraft.  It's not rocket science - I've had a bank account since I was 16 (about 16 years) and I have never gone overdrawn and have therefore never been charged.  Banks are not charities, they are companies run to make a profit and if they go bust the whole economy will suffer even more than it already is.

  4. I'm glad Natwest have lost money, the scandulous thieves. Their charges need looking into, as they charge for being a penny over the limit.  HSBC has made a profit (trust them eh) and they only charge a more reasonable £10 for going over overdrafts. And they let you go £10 over without any charge. That's a lot fairer way, and at least they've implemented this voluntarily, rather than Natwest etc who wait until they're forced into it.

  5. Ironic? yes.

It seems we must pay for the bank's cavalier approach to lending money (ours, some of it!).

Bet the Chairman and Directors still come out with a bonus "for performance".

It's been on the cards re charging to run a current account, now they have the perfect excuse.

As other companies give discounts for paying by direct debit it remains to be seen whether bank charges cancel out any advantage.

If I'm out of pocket I plan to move to a building society deposit account, close my current account aso...

If enough people move from the big clearing banks what will their next move be?

  6. Yeah just proves that they were subsidising their badly managed business with the unfair bank charges

  7. Serves them right, those greedy fat cats, and just goes to show how dependent on illegal charges they are.

Their come-uppance has finally come, and not before time.

  8. I think the other answers are confused, bank's are still charging these fees the only thing that has happened is the public can't claim any fees back while this test case is going on.

So the back's should be doing better, still charging people (good thing) not having to pay back any charges (good thing).

I find it quite fortunate that they are doing so poor just as they may be hit with a huge bill to repay ALL illegal bank charges for the last 6 years, how can the courts make them pay the money back if they don't have it ?????? How convienient.
