BANKING lN NEW YORK CITY...?

Question

im a college student that recently moved to brookyln living not far from the G train station at Clinton Washington Ave...

im looking for a bank with good service

no hiden charges... no ticky-tack charges in general would be nice too...

lots of places to withdraw...

and online banking

i heard Washington Mutual is a nice bank with "free checking" please explain what that is... i never was charged for using my checking acount at my old bank

what about City Bank and Chase?

are there any other banks i should know about in NYC?

Washington Mutual has no service fees and they provide free checks for life.  They may not be as convienent and Chase or Citibank, but they are more customer friendly.
