Question:

BARRACK OBAMA... Why do Democrats punish the rich?

If I am a heart surgeon, am I undeserving of my $300,000+ salary per year? Is my work so meaningless that I should have to give half of my money to the government? I was GIVEN NOTHING. My family lost everything in the great depression. Did I not earn my way through rigorous academics and HARD HARD WORK? Why does my success (through talent and much hard work) entitle the government to redistribute my wealth?

  1. Because ATTACKING YOU for choices that were profitable is much easier than pointing to the "poor" and pointed out the STUPIDITY behind their CHOICES......

If YOU are offended.... Liberals don't care.    If a 3rd generation welfare recipient doesn't get a Limo ride out of New Orleans.... that is an OUTRAGE

  2. We aren't out to punish the rich.  The questions is why the middle and lower class pay more taxes than the rich.  Are you saying poor and middle class people do not work hard?

My mom raised 2 kids, while getting her Masters degree- and working a full time job.  Are you saying she wasn't hard working b/c she wasn't rich?   She raised 2 daughters, who are both college graduates, well traveled, well cultured, independent thinkers, on a High School educators salary.  We were broke, but she worked hard.  And I take offense to you insinuating that people who are poor or middle class do not work hard.

And what does the great depression have to do with anything?

Also, do you even know where Obama stands on taxes?

    Truth:

Barack Obama wants the tax code to favor honest, hard-working people, and he has proposed a $1,000 tax cut for middle class families.

But that hasn’t stopped anonymous smear-mongers from starting misleading rumors like this one.

  3. If you make that much you should be taxed. They could retire after a few years regardless. Meanwhile, us real people that make less than 20,000 a year are sick of rising costs on EVERYTHING.

  4. Do you feel you should have to pay nothing back to a country that afforded you those opportunities? Every one pays taxes. Every one works hard. You are not a special exception to the rules. You've forgotten where you claim to come from.

  5. I don't think Democrats want to "punish" the rich. I think they're trying to take from the rich and give a little more to the poor. Come on, if you're making $300,000 a year and have to give an extra $1,000 or whatever to the government will it break the bank? Reducing the taxes on those who earn less will really benefit them. Besides, once the economy is more stable and the middle-class has grown then taxes can be reduced.

Use the calculator below to see what your Obama tax cut would look like.

  6. it's not punishing the rich. It's leveling the playing field. If you deserve all your money then the soldiers coming back from Iraq deserve a gold car when they get home.

But they don't even get what they deserve. Consider yourself lucky and count your blessings. Put yourself in the shoes of others.

  7. Let me tell you my story...

I'm 22 and my husband is 23.  I go to school full-time trying to make a career for myself and my husband is an electrician that has worked in the field since he was sixteen.  He comes home everyday, tired and hurting from a 12-hour workday to an apartment that we can barely afford on his salary.

And you know what?  He works on Fire Island for selfish people like you with multi-million dollar homes that spend their money frivolously on gold-plated landscape lights and million dollar ceiling fixtures when my husband can't even afford health insurance in case he gets hurt on the job.

There's something wrong when the middle class has to decide between putting gas in their vehicles to get to school/work or putting food on the table some nights and all you're worried about is the extra few thousand dollars you have to sacrifice to the government.  Looks like you won't be able to put in that extra pool house you were planning on this year.  It makes me sick.

The reason you're angry is because you think the lower class laborers are not as deserving of this money because they aren't hard workers.  But I'll bet that if you put in ONE twelve hour day of HARD LABOR like my husband does every day you'd change your outlook.  I'll bet he works ten times harder than you and makes only a sixth of your salary.

Besdies, If you're making more than $300,000 a year than you've got enough money to live comfortably and then some.  Good for you.  You can have your luncheons and exquisite vacation homes and gold plated landscape lights, but don't gripe about having to pay higher taxes.  You've got a lot more than most other people do.  Be grateful for it.  You'll be a happier person.

  8. Democratic politicians lust for power.

Democratic voters are uninformed and duped by the politicians.

  9. No you are not undeserving of your 300,000 per year but you should expect to pay your fair share of taxes also. This country has been built on the backs of the poor and middle class. The wealthy should pay their fair share.

  10. Great question!  You will probably not get any Lib answers though.  Even though they do think this should happen to you- they can't explain why, other than "it's unfair for you to have more than they do".  Really dumb.

  11. In the eyes of liberals, you do not deserve the fruit of your labors. It is rooted in their economic philosophy:

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Communism is the equal sharing of misery"

(I think it was Churchill that said that, but I'm not certain)

  12. they hate success

  13. Nobody said you were undeserving of your salary. We just want you to pay a higher tax rate than middle class Americans because people who make over 250,000 dollars a year can afford to bear more of the tax burden while middle class and the poor cannot. We have a 1 trillion dollar defecit thanks to the Bush tax cuts, the war in Iraq and massive government spending. We need to bring more revenue into the government to balance the budget and increase the value of our dollar. In order to do that, taxes would need to be increased on some Americans. The people who can most afford to pay for the tax increases are people who make over 250,000 dollars a year. These people received the biggest tax break in the Bush administration and are now going to be asked to pay some of that money back.

  14. The same reason middle class people have to pay taxes and whatever else the government dishes out. The same reason why our troops arent home. NO matter what the situation everyone has to pay dues. The same reason why my taxes pay for social security for the current generation and when its time for me to retire there will probably be no social security .......life goes on suck it up! They had so much to say about obama's past and that palin is worst...thats what they get OBAMA 08!

  15. This is a great question, most Democrats believe that all Republicans were handed everything and that all we care about is the rich.  This, however, is the farthest thing from the truth.  I make only 20k a year right now, and I'm right out of college, but the wealth I will achieve in life will be because of my hard work, just like you.  The Democrats in my opinion, cannot think of any other way to produce funds for Washington because they are too busy funding their special interest groups that do not serve the people of the U.S.  I don't believe I answered your question the best, but hopefully I shed some light in what I believe is going through the Democrat party.

  16. They don't 'punish' the rich, they just don't feel the rich should get special treatment simply because they are rich. Especially in the realm of taxes.

I personally think we should have one rate across the board for anyone living above the poverty level.

John B: Great site. Tax cut  $1000 over what we had calculated  ;)

  17. Yes you deserve to have all the money you have but you don't deserve to be so d**n GREEDY. Should we continue to tax the folks who aren't surgeons and are making a modest wage while the rich get richer? THAT IS NOT FAIR AND UN AMERICAN

We all only get this ONE LIFE we need to help each other out as people, as human beings the way God intended.

If you make $300,000 + a year are you really going to miss a few thousand so that the less fortunate can survive on bread and butter?

    God does not like UGLY!!!!

  18. Paying your dues for the benefit of living in this country is not a punishment.  If you were not fortunate enough to live here, you would not have the education you have, the job you have, or the clients to pay you.  Other people work long and hard in this country and make nowhere near as much money as you obviously do.

If you don't like it, move to Peru, where you won't pay high taxes, but you will also be robbed constantly due to an underfunded police force and will have poor roads and other infrastructure to work with.

ADD-ON:  If Republicans love this country so much, they should be eager to do their part to improve it.

  19. look at the can of worms you opened up... and all of the haters that answered.  none of these people have even considered the hundred or so thousand dollars of malpractice insurance you have to buy each year due to the liberal friends of theirs that sue a doctor unnecesarily trying to make millions off of a mistake.  they also haven't taken into account the many people that make 40,000 and then get more back at the end of the year than they have put into the system.  i.e.earned income tax credit.  they all talk about fair... they wouldn'd know fair if it bit them in the butt.  fait is not having a higher percentage rate of taxation because you earn more.  fair is everybody paying the same percentage know matter how much you make.  that way everybody pays for living in this great country with all of the advantages.  and miss mustang.  most of theses doctors also work more thatn 12 hours a day.  try 18 or more, most of it on their feet walking on hard tile floors dealing with people who are about to die along with their families who are looking to her for hope.  i work 12 hours a day on an oil rig, very hard work that most people can't do, however i will not trade for the doctor job for twice what they make.  i make about 60,000 a year and my wife is a teacher at a small private school.  she makes about 17,000 a year and we got a tax- cut "for the rich from george w. bush.  which was way more than the obama 1000 per family that is basically stealing from the oil companies to pay us.  what does he think that will do for the price of gas after that, what a dufus.  i  will agree that the troops deserve better thatn what they get, but you all have to remember that is what they VOLUNTEERED for.  they knew the wage and the risk.  they were all recruited the same as i was and knew the deal before signing.  flat tax of 10% to the government.  because i shopuld not have to give them more that i am obligated to give to

God due to the never ending blessing he pours out on me and the U.S.A. that i unlike obama really love, hand over heart and tears in my eyes when the National Anthem is heard.  well that is my $0.02 and will probably be hidden like the rest of the answers that make liberals fee like they are wrong.  hahahahahahahaha.

  20. Because it's more wealth then you need to survive

  21. It's this country that afforded you the privilege of becoming a doctor.

Soldiers getting paid $20,000 a year are dying or crippled.  Do they not deserve compensation?

    Ungrateful?

  22. So rich shouldn't pay taxes?  Currently, if you made 300,000 you would pay 84,000 in taxes.  that leaves you with just over 215,000.  If you are making 50000, you are leaving with just over 40,000.  Now...call me crazy, but I would love to have the problem of only having 215,000 dollars.  After taxes and filing single, of course.

And, additionally, according to Obama's tax plan...only individuals making more then 600,000 would pay more in taxes.  not corporations...individuals.  At 300,000/year, you would actually see a small drop in taxes.

  23. Same way one could also ask why do the republicans want to punish the middle and lower class and reward the rich.

You are not undeserving of your salary but don't you think you should be more grateful for the country that allowed you to get that education and that job and live the life you are able to live?  I'm hearing a lot of me, me, me and I, I, I.  Whatever happened to ask not what your country can do for you but what can you do for your country?

A society is only as strong as its weakest link and the government needs your support in order to strenghen those links and continue to allow you to live with the success you have.
