  1. My best guess if Rocco Baldelli.

  2. I'm going to guess former Cubs ace Mark Prior.

Who got injured in the stupidest way possible and was never able to recover.

  3. I agree with Curtis that Nomar probably best fits the question, although he did have a few good seasons afterward.  When he came up, the triumverate of A-Rod, Jeter and Nomar seemed destined to rule shortstop for decades and enter the HOF together.

A side note, given their injuries and performance this season, it's possible we may see a trio go into the hall together.  Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux may all decide to hang up their cleats after 2008.  All are a sure bet for the hall, and it would be great to see the core of one of the best pitching rotations ever to be so honored.

  4. moises alou is always hurt and

    griffey jr.?

  5. I started with the 2000 draft and worked backwards, because the majority of players drafted after that wouldn't have had enough time to have both a great first couple of years and then write off the rest of their career due to injury.

The best match I found, a guy whose first four full seasons were phenomenal (his first season he played only 24 games so I don't count that.  His start made him look like a certain HOFer, but it's highly unlikely now because of injury.  That would be Nomar Garciaparra.

  6. Geoff Jenkins.

  7. Tony Conigliaro, Boston Red Sox

  8. not specific enough.
