  1. you'll need an air gun pumped up pretty high to kill anything bigger than a lizard.

try a 22 with rat shot instead.

  2. You will need something like this:

Or if you like pink you may prefer this model:

  3. >>What kind of BB gun do I need to kill small rodents and birds or do I need an air rifle instead<<

    Airsoft will not work.

    >>Do I need a pump action or one/cocking action<<

    Multi-pump pneumatics - Under $60*

    Daisy 880

    Crosman 2100

Either of those two would work for small rodents and little birds.

    *At Wal-Mart

    Multi-pump pneumatic - $140

    The Benjamin 392 or 397

Much better rifle than the above - Reasonable powerful and accurate - Well made and durable rifle

Spring piston - Break barrel - around $100

Crosman - Phantom, Storm XT, Quest 1000X

    Ruger Air Hawk

These rifles are reasonable powerful & reasonable accurate, don't count on well made or durable

    "Diana" RWS 34 - $187 - $225

The RWS 34 is a powerful, accurate and very durable rifle - lifetime warranty

IMO it takes around 6.0fpe at impact, with proper shot placement for a clean, humane kill on small game(rabbit, squirrel) - For small rodents and birds, 3.0fpe should do the job.

    .177 cal

    575fps - 8.2gr  = 6.02fpe

    425fps - 8.2gr = 3.3fpe

    .22 cal

    435fps - 14.5gr = 6.09fpe

    325fps - 14.5gr = 3.4fpe

A .177 caliber air rifle that has a MV of 850fps with 8.3gr pellets could take small game out to around 45 yards.

EXAMPLE - Jim Chapman - hunting with his fav small game air rifle, the Beeman C1 .177(850fps)

    http://www.americanairgunhunter.com/webc...

He takes a jackrabbit at 44 yards with one shot to the head.

  4. I know I know...how about not killing them at all. It's cruel.

  5. Why not buy a good camera instead and then shoot them with that. You might even be able to sell some of your photos.

    It's a great hobby, and it's legal.

Rocketman--Are they damaging our homes or are we damaging theirs?

Pest control companies would do it humanely, Macho hunters sometimes only wound and the animal dies a horrible death.

    Leave it to the experts.

  6. why would u want to kill a innocent animal.

  7. Storm XT will work. I have one and its sweet. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!!!

  8. I'm told a decent air rifle (.22)  will take out squirrels but doubt it, having used a .177 years ago (pellets ricochet off bird wings).  To the other answerer: why kill them?  Rats and tree rats (squirrels) are vermin, carry disease and damage your home; need more reasons.

  9. electric bb guns/airsoft guns will no work their plastic bb's will just bounce off

a daisy bb gun could do the job a pellet gun would be Better

i highly suggest a pellet gun/air rifle ( probly a GAMO they are good and affordable). i have one and i can even take out rabbits (with a good placed shot) but it also wont blow the rodents to pieces which causes an undesirable mess.

Also u should bury or toss the dead vermin a decent distance from your house so u dont get coyoties, bobcats, fishercats, or foxes in your back yard ( i have consevation land behind my house so i dump them back there to keep the preators away

    GAMO USA WEBSITE http://www.gamousa.com//Index.aspx

I dont know your price range but here's a good value model (ALSO I HIGHLT SUGGEST U BUY IT FROM midwayusa.com): http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.ex...

  10. You want a .22 cal. (as opposed to .177) powerful enough to get to at least 600 feet per second. 800 fps (feet per second) is very adequate for most birds and any rodent. You can use a .177 pellet that reaches 800 fps, but that leaves a lot more wounded than I like to see.

There are pump guns, CO2, On pumps which are probably the most cost effective and quick because it's only one cocking motion. I used a Benjamin .22 pump for years as a youth, and it was deadly on any small animal.

I also bought a cheap Chinese .177 that is pretty strong at a pawn shop, and I've done in many Crows and small varmints with it. I'm currently shopping for a good .22, and I've bought a Beeman for $100 that I'm taking back because it's pretty cheap. I'm checking into Mendoza and some others because I want 900 fps out of a .22 pellet and some good quality workmanship and sweet accuracy on the gun because I'm a good enough marksman to use whatever accuracy any pellet gun can offer.

  11. As others have mentioned you need a 11-12ft/lbs .22 cal air rifle.

Its plebs like you that give hunters a bad name running around with your pea shooters.

  12. Airsoft wouldn't kill most rodents or birds. If you really have your heart set on this, do it legally and humanely. A .22 caliber air rifle with a muzzle velocity of at least 800 fps means one shot, one kill for most of these animals, even a shot with lousy placement. The same could be said to a lesser extent of a .177 caliber @ 1,000 fps.

The RWS 34 comes to mind. So does the Hammerli Storm. Mendoza too.

  13. Get a Crosman Storm XT .177 cal Break-Barrel Pellet gun from Wal-Mart (or just about anywhere) for $99.00

That'll take care of mice, birds, rabbit, squirrel, etc.
