Question:

BB-US: Why do they call Jerry the "Colonel?"?

My understanding is he spent four years in the Marine Corps as an enlisted man, serving in Korea part of that time. Did he tell the houseguests, early on, that he had been a Colonel? Or are they simply calling him that as a bit of fun, since he's older and has served in the military? Anyone know for sure?

  1. I think it's just a nickname the players gave him since he was in the Marines.  Jerry likes to talk about his experiences when he was younger.

  2. I don't recall anything where he told them if he was a colonel, but I think they call him that out of respect.

  3. (edited)* he spent four years in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1954.*

I'm sure he has shared stories of him time in the military with the other houseguests....I'm going to say that they call him Colonel just out of respect, being that he served in the military and his age....

  4. > I don't think he was a colonel,,I think the youngsters are doing it out of respect for him ( which I have no idea why ) myself,,,I've got a few choice names for him . One not being The Colonel

  5. B/C He's The Oldest Guy In The House & Besides How Would Feel Right Calling Him Jerry With Out Saying Mr. Jerry!!!!!  LOL

  6. I think it's just because of his military background.  They are showing a form of respect to him.

  7. He was in the marines so I assume it's a mix between that and that he is the eldest.

  8. They gave him the nickname  being he was in the marines.

    Better than calling him A**hole!
