My success has been a combination of winning tournaments throughout the year, and playing well in the big tournaments when I had to, plus winning my second major, the USPGA”.
The 23-year-old from Hollywood mentioned in a statement that Northern Ireland has been producing exceptional talent in all forms of sports. Taking some names of the players who performed magnificently
during the Olympics, he said that it is a great feeling to be at the same league as such marvelous athletes.
The Sports Editor of the NI BBC, Shane Glynn, said that the year proved to be highly successful for Northern Ireland as the local stars proved their worth during the course of the year and
brought laurels for the country.
He added that the Olympics and Paralympics featured numerous athletes and thus the decision to make McIlroy was not easy as there was a stiff competition.
