- considering Wimbledon is played on grass courts and he is not a grass specilist.

  1. They've got the British winners working out there too; |Virginia Wade and Anne Jones. The nearest thing you could get to a British winner of the men's singles would be a Fred Perry shirt.

  2. Nice to meet another tennis buff! Tim Henman did win tournaments but not on grass. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam tournament on grass so the world of a professional Tennis player covers a lot more than just Wimbledon,

  3. Jamie Murray, but he's still involved.

  4. You obviously don't follow tennis then...?

  5. Why is Henman commentating its sooooo annoying.

  6. They used to have Virginia Wade who won the womens singles in 1977 and John Lloyd won the doubles many years ago,but thats it in recent history i think

  7. I haven't actually listened to his commentary yet but the BBC should (and probably do) pick their commentators based on who'll be the best commentator, rather than who was the best player.

For example with the football Mark Lawrenson was a fairly successful player but not an absolute legend, but he's a great commentator.
