BBQ GAS Gril Question about using lava rocks in it...?

hi, i am going to buy a simple Propance BBQ, this is the first time i am using propane BBQ, my question should i put lava rocks in it.

does these rocks improves the tastes of BBQ or it is just a cosmetic thingl

You should. They help distribute the heat more evenly so the meat cooks better and also retain heat for a more consistent temperature. most barbecues come with a bag of rock .

Well congrats on going and getting a gas grill ... You will enjoy it for many years!!!

The lava rock (if it came with the grill) works out ok... it catches the drippings and after a few cookouts it does in my opinion improve the flavor!!   BUT you get more flareups as well....

That is why I use the ceramic briquettes... I lay them out on the bottom rack and they heat up nice and help keep a even heat in the grill and the "drippings" soak in and burn off thus making the smoke and more flavor in the meats you cook on the grill.... I use my grill almost every day and we love it here... Even in the dead of winter we cook on it!! Don't be afraid to cook anything on it ... even pizza is great.... you just have to learn how to cook on the grill and know how to set the temp..... So have fun cooking! Because its a GAS...LOL
