Question:

BBT Charting?

I just started charting my bbt and was wondering how important it is to take your temp. the same time every morning. I usually wake up a couple of times a night to go to the bathroom (i've been to the doc. and this is normal for me). So, I was taking my temp. around 4:00am every morning, but the last 3 days I've taken it closer to 6:00am. I still get up at odd times of the night, so it always changes. I know I'm supposed to take my temp. before I go to the bathroom. Now my chart is saying that I ovulated on Day9. I didn't start using my OPK till Day 10. (None have been positive yet, it's only Day 12 today) I was sure I wouldn't ovulate till around Day14 b/c my cylce is 28 days. Do you think my chart will be somewhat accurate, or not? How close in time do I need to take my temps? Thanks.

  1. i think it has to be the same time everyday before you get out of bed, i kept forgetting and going to bathroom first, and i never found my temperature was in the normal range anyway,so i still didn't now when i ovulated, as soon as i stopped worrying about it, we conceived. good luck

  2. Okay... YES you need to take your temp at the same time EVERY day. You can only differ by 30 min, on either side of your time slot. So if you usually take your temp at 6:00 am you can take it anywhere from 5:30-6:30. Do not differ more than that or it wont be right. AND... for your temperature to be correct for your chart, you HAVE to get at least 3 hours of sleep before your temp.

I hope this helped. If you need more info, they have a section you can read on www.fertilityfriend.com!

  3. It depends on the person. Some people's temps are affected by time some aren't. If you feel it isn't correct then try and take them at the same time next cycle. Mine are higher the later it is, so I have to be pretty accurate. Good luck!
