BCB President and Chief Selector in a tug of war-Cricket News update

Criticising the role of Mustafa Kamal, Akram said that the selection committee has been facing intrusion from the president of the BCB for quite some time now. He said that some players were excluded from the team on his unfair insistence. Therefore, he
could not continue his job when he is not given the freedom to perform it effectively.

that the selectors and the president of the BCB were not on the same page.
Tamim, who is the nephew of the chief selector Akram, is a young batsman, who has made his mark at the international level. In 109 ODI matches, he has scored 3 centuries and 19 fifties. However, he has been suffering from injuries for quite some time now.
He was excluded from the recently concluded BPL after playing just 2 matches on account of a groin problem.
Akram alleged that BCB’s president had been interfering in matters that are at the sole discretion of the selection committee. According to him, Muhammad Ashraful had also been excluded earlier because of his interference.
The selection committee should be allowed to work independently to produce effective results according to Akram. Justifying his decision to resign, he said: “Given these circumstances, it’s very difficult to enjoy the work, so I decided to resign”.
The tug of war between the BCB president and Chief Selector is bound to affect the host team’s performance. Akram might be right to protest undue interference from the board’s President but this certainly is not the right time for such a controversy. The
players and the Bangladeshi cricket fans cannot afford it when the first match is just a few days away.
