My employer offer me health insurance, but they only cover 50% of the monthly expense on the plan. I still havent start the health insurance plan yet. they told me that I will have to pay about 45 dollars per week from my paycheck. (that's alot of money for me cuz I havent seen doctor for almost 7 years since I first went to college). I asked them if they can just reimburse me if I dont want the health insurance and they dont want to. but why they dont want to do that ? they have adventage to pay BCBS than pay me reimbursement ?

  1. It is not easy to answer your question in one words, you would better find it out here yourself.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  2. Because... If you are injured or have a serious illness you didn't foresee you'd be without coverage. There is no advantage for them to pay you instead of the insurance.

  3. Legally, they can't "reimburse" you.  They'd have to pay you more, and you'd have to pay taxes on that income.

Yes, the advantage to them paying insurance premium is, it's tax deductible for them.  And if they paid that money to you as wages, they'd have to pay MORE money for payroll taxes, unemployment taxes, workers compensation, and general liability if their insurance is rated on payroll.  So $50 paid to the insurance company actually SAVES them $1 on taxes, but would COST them maybe $30 MORE if they paid it to you directly, in added costs.

  4. I dont think they will do reimbursement. They only do that once they process a certain claim which is incorrect. That is the only time. For this Better to get one for future use.
