BCCI president Shashank Manohar gets appointed for one year
The President of the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shashank-Manohar-c89791 and the secretary of the cricket board, N Srinivasan were both appointed to their posts in the BCCI without any opposition
for another one year-term. This happened one day before the 81st AGM which is being held on Wednesday.
With Manohar set to retire as the BCCI President at the end of the next one year-term, Sinivasan was also elected as the President-elect of the BCCI. The President-elect works in close tandem with the President
for a period of one year and takes over as the President of the body when the President retires. This allows for a smooth transition for the new President. Srinivasan’s was the only nomination received for the post.
Some of the other members of the BCCI who were elected to their posts without any opposition were M P Pandove as treasurer and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sanjay-c88566 Jagdale as joint secretary respectively.
As expected, there was bad news for Lalit Modi, who was ousted as the vice president of the BCCI from the central zone. Each of the five zones in the country is represented by a vice president, and Modi had
been the vice president from Central Zone. Chirayu Amin, who was the vice president from the west zone was also replaced by Niranjan Shah. Amin is expected to have his term in the Indian Premier League Governing Council extended by one year.
It was also announced that apart from the aforementioned the members of the other sub-committees would be decided on Wednesday in the AGM. This will include the Working Committee, the IPL Governing Council
and the selection committee for senior and junior teams.
The most important decision that could be taken on Wednesday could be the appointment of the members of the IPL Governing Council. According to the new rules, the IPL GC will remain in power for only one
year instead of the previously decided five years.
