BCCI Working Committee keen to revamp current domestic setup - Cricket News Update
The Working Committee of the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) will meet next week in New http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 to discuss and sanction various recommendations made in June by its technical and disciplinary panel.
The reports include plans to restructure the current domestic setup, while further deal on issues such as the ongoing corruption scandal which led to bans for several local players.
The technical committee was headed by former Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy finalists to be placed in the Tier A and
B in the next season of the domestic competition.
"It`s a routine meeting. It would discuss recommendations of the technical committee and the special committee (formed in the previous working committee meeting for improving the domestic cricket set up)," BCCI secretary http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sanjay-Madansingh-Jagdale-c88599 told a news agency.
Ranji Trophy is an annual domestic tournament that features 27 teams and has been http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s leading First-Class competition since its inauguration in 1934. The format of the competition is divided between the Elite and Plate divisions, with each division further
divided into two groups of A and B.
The technical committee had proposed to overhaul the tournament format by adding a third group C, with all groups having nine teams, playing eight matches during the league stage. Further suggestions included the introduction of two bouncers in an over,
a change in the points system and in the scheduling of the tournaments.
Cricket experts in India have lauded the decision of the BCCI to involve yesteryear greats in developing the Indian domestic structure. The inclusion of former captains Ganguly (technical committee) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anil-Kumble-c44737 (special committee) is certainly seen as
 a positive move, which is  expected to help Indian Cricket in the long-run.
The working committee will also discuss the life bans handed out to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shalabh-Shrivastava-c2494 however, Jagdale has reaffirmed that they will uphold the disciplinary panel’s decision.
"The decision of the disciplinary committee is final. There is no need for it to be ratified," he concluded.
