BCCI changes its stance on IPL financial scam issue – Cricket News Update
The Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) has shown a sudden change in its stance on the alleged financial irregularities during the first three editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the board’s president-elect, N Srinivasan, has admitted
before a parliamentary committee that the governing body was all aware of the accounts scam.
Srinivasan has confessed that the BCCI failed to take any action against the then IPL chief, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lalit-Kumar-Modi-c72144, who was accused of mismanaging the funds as he believes that there was no way to escape from the mess.
Presenting justification before the Indian parliament’s standing committee, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829 said, “We were taken for a ride. I know we cannot plead before you that we did not know all this was happening. Your question would be, were you not vigilant? What did
you do? I am sorry, sir, there is no defence for me. No defence in front of you. So, I am not pleading that [ignorance] at all. We just put our heads down."
In the past the BCCI had been displaying total unawareness about the swindle which brought sheer disrepute to the cash-awash IPL. It put the entire burden of responsibility on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Modi-c76470 who was tried, disqualified and suspended by a court of law.
Some circles argue that the board will now try to drag into the rift Srinivasan who has dared to make fair revelations that my put it under fire.
As a first step in this direction, the BCCI president, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shashank-Manohar-c89791 has come up to blame Srinivasan for allegedly signing the IPL checks as the latter was the board's treasurer at that time.
However, Srinivasan is not bothered, as he claims that they cannot make further excuses to conceal the facts.
In the first three editions of the ace domestic T20 tournament of India, there were witnessed certain managerial loopholes, especially in terms of the financial deals as the remunerations of some of the players were delayed or denied.
IPL poses to be the richest domestic tournament which has spread immense cash and cricket around the globe.
