BCCI demands 100% accuracy in UDRS, saying it works on assumption – Cricket News Update
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) secretary, N Srinivasan, said that the board will keep opposing the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS), until it is 100% accurate.
The secretary also said that they have not witnessed any improvements in the technology since its introduction.
In December last year, Srinivasan along with the BCCI umpires’ sub-committee’s director, S Venkataraghavan, visited http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 for evaluating the accuracy of the system during the Ashes, but the two were not convinced.
Recently, the Federation of International Cricketers Association conducted a survey, which revealed that 82% of the players were supporting the DRS, while 97% were insisting that is should be made compulsory in all the Test matches.
"Everyone has their own choice and we cannot question them. At the same time, we have our own ideas and we would http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829.
The system has been receiving great resistance from the senior Indians players, including skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sachin-Ramesh-Tendulkar-c87800.
Dhoni’s negative views against DRS probably came during India’s clash against England in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Ronald-Bell-c63974 had a narrow escape of leg before appeal.
Tendulkar, in his recent statement, said that he was not against the DRS but wanted it to be supported by ‘Hot spot’ and Snickometer.
On the other hand, Srinivasan stated that he is not opposing the use of Snickometer or Hot Spot, but is doubtful about the accuracy of Hawk Eye, which according to him, works on assumptions.
"The Hawk-Eye is yet to convince us. This is a technology that deals with the projection, trajectory and angle of the ball. And from where the cameras are placed, it cannot give a foolproof solution,” added Srivinasan.

The BCCI resistance was slammed by former cricketers, especially the English, who believe that the absence of UDRS might actually harm the Indian cause in the Test series.
