BCCI discards any rift in Indian cricket team- Cricket News Update
Despite media speculation over unrest in the Indian camp, BCCI Vice-President, Rajiv Shukla has come out in support of the under fire Men In Blue and has claimed that all is fine in the cricket team’s dressing room.
“I don’t think there is any rift witin the team. It’s media speculation. We have not asked for any report on this from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746,” Shukla said.
The board, however, has confirmed that they have held talks with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, to ensure that they maintain team spirit among the players.
The drama unfolded during the on-going tour Down Under, where the senior players voiced their displeasure over some of ideas currently employed by Dhoni.
The main reason of the conflict started over the implementation of the controversial rotation policy for the three veterans- http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447.
However, the first indication of the split in their relationship with the skipper came when the left handed opening batsman, Gambhir, criticized Dhoni for stretching out games till the last over; with Mahi replying by saying it being just a “difference of
perception”.
Later on, it was the skipper himself trying to justify the highly debatable rotational policy where he termed the top three senior players being slow fielders, who are prone to concede 20 extra runs on the field.
This further sparked http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HA-Varaiya-c1520 (Sehwag) to respond in public, by revealing that the rotated-trio were told that the policy involves grooming youngsters rather than being necessary to avoid runs on the field. He further proved his stance by referring to an excellent
diving catch he took in the loss against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The publically addressed verbal clashes have brought plenty of criticism from former players, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravishankar-Jayadritha-Shastri-c84254, who all feel that the team needs to get their act together if they want to turn around their poor performances
Down Under - with the national team currently sitting at the bottom of the points table in the ongoing tri-series.
The skipper and vice captain, however, are expected to conduct a press conference to show their intent on playing as a unit, and win some crucial upcoming games. It now remains up to the players to put their personal differences behind.
