BCCI is handled by spineless people says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lalit-Kumar-Modi-c72144 – Cricket News Update
Former Commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lalit Modi, has slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) and claimed that cricket in India is in incapable hands at the moment.
After being charged for corruption and match-fixing in the cash-rich league, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Modi-c76470 was terminated by the BCCI last year and he had to face legal action as well.
Recently, BCCI alleged that the IPL Commissioner is the mind behind the upcoming Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL) as well and hence they have barred Indian cricketers from taking part in the tournament.
Modi, fuming on the allegations, said that BCCI blames him for everything that goes wrong, using him as a scapegoat.
Lalit said, "It seems best way to scuttle any plans is to say Lalit Modi is behind it. Good to know that just mentioning my name can send a shiver down their spines. Guess they are a bunch of spineless people running the show. They have no clue as to what
to do.”
Modi, who had been handling the affairs of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 cricket overs the years, was the person behind the idea of IPL.
BCCI wanted to counter the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), which inaugurated in 2007 and as a result Modi came up with the plan of a cash-rich league, with the approval of the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625).
He believes that cricket officials in India are not creative at all and they just take things as they come.
"When I was at BCCI - the mandate given then was to scuttle ICL. BCCI arm twisted every cricket board and ICC to change their constitution. It just shows that Mandarins at BCCI have no clue what is happening in the cricket world. They can't see beyond their
own shadow," Modi revealed.
He was an integral part of BCCI in the recent past but now Modi feels that the ICC should not get influenced by BCCI because the Indian cricket officials are damaging the repute of cricket as a global sport.
Modi also criticized BCCI for rejecting the Umpires Decision Review System (UDRS) in the upcoming Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
