BCCI issues invitation for IPL final to PCB chairman – Cricket News Round-up – May 20, 2012 – Part 2
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf, to attend the final of the ongoing 5th edition of the Indian Premier League, due to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on May 27.
“I see the invitation as another positive step forward in further normalising bilateral cricket ties between the two countries,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.
The chairman went on to add that he intended to utilize the visit to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terror attacks in November 2008.
Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
“I suspect this might be the end of the road for me in the IPL, but let's see how it goes. Will go back home and think about future plans,” said Gilchrist, who had retired from international cricket in 2008.
The 40-year-old took over as captain of the Kings XI in 2011, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 left and joined the Deccan Chargers. The Kings XI finished 5th on the point stable in the 2011 edition, and failed to improve on their past performance in the ongoing season, during which they are currently at number 6 on the standings. Having played out all their matches, the team is unlikely to progress into the playoffs which are due to begin on May 22.
Pune Warriors’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746 is of the view that the poor performances of his team need not be analysed straightaway, and that the players needs time to recover from the disappointment of their losses.
“Any post-mortem that needs to be done should be done after some time,” Ganguly insisted. “Right now, the boys need to get away from here and go back to their respective homes. It's very hard for them too. They have selected to win matches and that hasn't happened.”
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 are among the most expensive franchises in the tournament, but their performances have been far from satisfactory. The team has finished second last from the bottom on the point stable this season, having won only 4 of the 16 matches they have played.
However, moving on to end on a more positive note, the skipper added that it was a new franchise (who were inducted into the tournament only last year, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 as skipper) and was bound to improve with time.
